SICILY. Syracuse. Agathokles, 317-289 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 24 mm, 17.14 g, 1 h), circa 310-306/5. KOPAΣ Head of Kore to right, wearing wreath of grain ears, single-pendant earring and pearl necklace. Rev. AΓAΘOKΛ[EOΣ] Nike, bare to waist, standing right, about to attach a helmet to a trophy, she holds a hammer in her right hand and a nail in her left; to lower left, monogram of AI; to right, triskeles running right. Ierardi 102 (O21/R63). SNG ANS 664. SNG Lockett 1004. Beautifully toned and with a splendid head of Kore of wonderful early Hellenistic style. Two tiny marks on cheek, otherwise, about extremely fine.
